THE WINERY
The Boškinac Winery is a result of the family tradition concerning the wine production. Our ancestors, Šuljić-Boškinac, carefully cultivated the vineyards and
nourished the wine production over the centuries, so, it is no wonder that the wine-cellar has been the backbone of the family’s way of life. The types of grapes have been changing, wars have past through the Novalja plain- but the vineyards have remained an everlasting source of existence.
Therefore, the wine-cellar revives the family values, but, at the same time, offers some new products and possibilities. Today, on six hectares, we have thirty thousand grapevines of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Gegić, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. Our striving is, of course, directed towards the production of Gegić, so we try to produce the wine of the finest quality from our own cultivar, by using various brewing and aging technologies.
Our wines have stirred up an interest on the market and, so we certainly need to mention our dry cuvee C. Sauvignon and Merlot which are served in the most prestigious restaurants all over Croatia and which have, more than once, won national prizes and acknowledgements. All of our red wines are kept in small oak barrels for two years before being put on the market, when the ripening process is finished, which takes about three to four years.
Our wish is to convey to wine connoisseurs, the power of the south as well as the power of our rocky island through our wines and at the same time the elegance of the cultivated temper that is achieved by great efforts demanded by the vineyard.
